A studio of one,
and the people it works with.

Studio

JWB'S Studio is the practice of Jamie Wesley-Brown, working from Newton, Auckland. The studio takes on a small number of projects a year — identity, editorial, digital and motion — and stays on them long enough to see them produced.

The work is typographic before it is anything else. Most of it is built on a grid, a single typeface and a decision about what to leave out. Clients tend to arrive with either too many rules or none at all; the studio’s job is usually to find the one rule the work has been asking for.

Jamie has worked in-house and in agencies across Auckland and London, and has been running the studio independently since 2019.

  • Studio of one, with a standing group of collaborators for photography, engineering, motion and print production.
  • Projects typically run six to sixteen weeks. The studio takes on roughly eight a year.
  • Available for retainer art direction with in-house teams, one or two days a week.
